In the spirit of respect, truth, and reconciliation, we honor and acknowledge Moh’kinstsis and the traditional Treaty 7 territory of the Blackfoot Confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, the Îethka Nakoda Nations of Chiniki, Bearspaw and Goodstoney and the Tsuut’ina Nation. Calgary is also home to members of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government of Alberta, Districts 5 and 6.
Sunrise Healing Lodge serves people from across the territory now known as Canada and respectfully acknowledges that much of the land is unceded and that many nations, languages, and cultures were eradicated due to genocide through colonization. We ask that you honour all the peoples of Turtle Island by learning the history of your territory and recognizing that the space you call home was not discovered but was already inhabited by the great nations who continue to protect and steward this land.
Sunrise is committed to growing through direct consultation and collaboration with Elders and First Nations communities. We are guided by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s 94 Calls to Action.
